I grew up on a family farm in Minnesota, but after 20+ years on Capitol Hill, I've adjusted quite well to the pace, sounds and convenience of urban living. The original plan entailed a few years in Washington to work on farm policy and then head home. Instead of following the plan, I met my better half, got married, had three kids, and now drive a minivan!
After taking a few photography classes at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, I enrolled in the Washington School of Photography in 2010. It was during this year-long intensive program that KZT Photography was launched. And the rest is history!
A few of my favorite things:
- natural light (vs. studio strobes)
- fun + silly (vs. formal + stuffy)
- capitol hill (unless we're in the abacos or sperryville)
- beach (no thanks mountains)
- coffee (hot, black, in a go-cup from peregrine)
- capturing the curiosity of a child, excitement of an engagement or joy of a family - i LOVE photographing people in love with each other and their surroundings!
